Just yesterday, I had a unique experience with a delivery guy who came to drop off a package at my doorstep. It turned into a valuable lesson about the positive impact we can create when given the opportunity.
The delivery man arrived in a rusty minivan with ripped seating, which suggested to me that he might be dealing with various difficulties. As part of his job, this driver was required to take a photo as proof of a successful delivery. However, he faced an unexpected obstacle – his iPhone, which he needed for this task, was completely dead. I could sense his overwhelm as he explained his situation.
He showed me the black screen on his phone, which also happened to be cracked.
Having been a letter carrier back in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, I could relate to the pressures of his job. While we didn’t have cell phones back then, I remembered having to manage my duties while sometimes navigating unexpected hurdles.
In that moment, I realized the importance of his request. If he hadn’t mustered the courage to ask for help, he would have continued to have a stressful and worrisome day, potentially even jeopardizing his job by failing to complete his duties. His situation resonated with me, and I couldn’t turn a blind eye to it.

It was a small act of kindness, but it made a significant impact on his day.
This experience reinforced a powerful lesson: never underestimate the impact of asking for help.
